Is Apple TV the only streaming option?
Apple TV is the film's exclusive streaming home. The October 16 date is a global streaming debut, so subscribers in different regions get access on the same day.
That exclusivity simplifies the decision for streaming viewers. You do not need to compare rival services or rental windows to find it.
How does the theatrical run work?
The theatrical window comes first and lasts one week. Select cinemas will show the film from October 9 before it moves to streaming. The release is not wide.
Theaters are described as select cinemas and select U.S. theaters, so many readers will have no nearby screening. If theater viewing matters to you, check local listings early in that October 9 week. Most viewers will need to wait for the October 16 streaming debut.
What story and cast should you expect?
The film dramatizes the true 1953 expedition from Tenzing Norgay's perspective. It follows the climb that placed Norgay and Hillary on the summit. Jennifer Peedom directs. Genden Phuntsok stars as Tenzing Norgay and Tom Hiddleston stars as Edmund Hillary, as Televisual notes in its cast report, with Willem Dafoe, Caitríona Balfe, Thinley Lhamo and Tenzin Dalha in supporting roles.
The screenplay is by Luke Davies from a story by Peedom and Davies. See-Saw Films produces the film for Apple Original Films. The production had festival exposure before release. It premiered at Telluride on September 4, 2026, then screened at Toronto on September 15, 2026.
