I Bought a Digital Movie but It Is Missing From My Library

A digital movie missing from your library is usually still linked to your purchase, but hidden by the wrong login, a filter, or a changed license. A digital movie library is your licensed collection of viewing rights tied to an account, not video files you own outright. Check the store account, the display filters, and the order record first. Those three checks solve most cases without buying the title again.

Are you signed in to the right account?

Many buyers own more than one account without realizing it. A work email, a family email, an older username, or a linked TV app can each hold separate purchases. Stores keep movies under the exact account used at checkout.

Signing in with a slightly different email shows an empty or partial library. Open the account settings and compare the login email to the receipt email. Sign out of smart TVs and streaming devices, then sign back in with the receipt address.

Is a filter or setting hiding the title?

Libraries often hide titles by default. Common causes include a kids profile, a hide-purchased setting, a genre filter, or a sort order that pushes the film far down the list.

Search the exact title rather than browsing. Use the store search box, check the "purchased" or "library" tab, and turn off maturity filters for the test.

  • Search the exact title
  • Open Purchased or Library, not Home
  • Switch to the adult or main profile
  • Clear genre, hide, and maturity filters
  • Sort by title or purchase date

Did the store lose the right to show it?

A digital purchase gives you a license to stream that film through that store. Studios can move films between services, replace versions, or withdraw an edition. When that happens, the movie may leave the browse catalog while buyers keep access through purchase history.

In some cases the store shows a new edition, such as an extended cut or remaster, as a separate listing. A 4K upgrade, bonus edition, or studio bundle can also split one purchase into two pages. If the artwork changed or the runtime looks different, look for alternate editions under the same title.

How do you restore access?

Start with proof of purchase. Find the emailed receipt, the card statement entry, or the order-history line for the film. Then use the store help path for missing purchases: refresh the library, choose restore purchases on mobile apps, update the app, and restart the device.

If the title is still absent, send support the order number, purchase date, account email, and device type. Keep the receipt until access returns. Do not buy the movie again while a support request is open, because duplicate orders can complicate a refund.
