Who Is Wade Before the Experiment?
Wade works as a hired gun and jokes through danger. He meets Vanessa in a bar and they fall fast. They plan marriage after Wade learns he has terminal cancer.
A recruiter offers Wade a secret treatment that promises a cure. Wade accepts to stay alive for Vanessa but hides the choice from her. That secrecy creates guilt that follows him.
How Does Wade Become Deadpool?
Ajax and Angel run the program inside a hidden lab. They torture Wade to force a mutation, meaning an active superhuman trait. The stress triggers rapid cell repair but burns his skin badly.
Wade escapes after causing a lab explosion and believes Ajax died. He hides from Vanessa because he fears rejection of his face. He adopts the name Deadpool and wears a full mask.
Why Does Wade Hunt Ajax?
Wade learns Ajax survived and might reverse the scarring. He cannot heal his face on his own.
His hunt has three clear goals: The plan fails because Ajax will not or cannot restore him. Ajax taunts Wade that no cure exists. The hunt then shifts from repair to revenge and rescue.
- find Ajax through mercenary contacts
- force Ajax to repair his skin
- keep Vanessa clear of the fight
What Happens in the Final Fight?
Ajax kidnaps Vanessa to draw Wade out. Wade asks two young X-Men trainees, Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead, for help. They battle Ajax and Angel on a wrecked helicarrier, meaning a crashed flying warship.
Colossus fights Angel while Negasonic destroys the ship supports. Wade beats Ajax in close combat. Vanessa sees Wade's scarred face and accepts him. Wade shoots Ajax despite Colossus urging mercy.
What Does the Ending Mean?
The ending rejects the idea of a full reset. Ajax never had a true cure, only control through false hope. Wade stops chasing his old face and owns the Deadpool identity.
Love also wins over shame. Vanessa chooses Wade after seeing his scars. He kisses her without his mask on.
