The strongest discovery+ picks this month are Gold Rush Season 17, Ghost Adventures Season 31 and Secret Life of a Vegas Casino. Discovery+ is the streaming home for Discovery's unscripted cable brands, and Deadliest Catch and Naked and Afraid: Global Showdown round out its best bets. Conskipper notes that most Discovery Channel premieres air first on linear TV and reach discovery+ next day. That timing shapes the best order: start library favorites now, then follow new seasons as episodes post.

What premiered for October viewing?
Gold Rush Season 17 premiered Oct. 2, 2026 at 8pm ET/PT on Discovery Channel. The season returns Parker Schnabel, Tony Beets and Rick Ness to the Yukon with about $130 million in gold at stake. The Futon Critic, via a Discovery Channel press release, lists that stakes jump as the season hook in its October programming highlights. Ghost Adventures Season 31 premiered Sept. 30, 2026 at 10pm ET/PT.
It opens in a Las Vegas horror escape-room warehouse, then follows weekly investigations. All Hallows Geek reports new episodes stream next day on discovery+ and HBO Max in its new-season premiere details. Secret Life of a Vegas Casino premiered Sept. 29, 2026 at 9pm ET/PT. The Futon Critic, via a Discovery press release, describes it as following security, surveillance, operations and VIP teams managing high rollers at the Golden Nugget. For film readers, the draw is process: fixed location, overlapping jobs, constant incidents.
Which work and survival staples anchor a binge?
Deadliest Catch returned May 8, 2026 at 8pm ET/PT as part of May highlights with Homestead Rescue and The Last Woodsmen. Warner Bros. Discovery Pressroom lists the season as available to discovery+ streamers. The format stays boat-based and job-driven, which suits viewers who like procedural pressure.
Naked and Afraid: Global Showdown premiered May 17, 2026 at 8pm ET/PT. Warner Bros. Discovery Pressroom says 14 franchise all-stars from Australia, Brazil, Mexico and the U.S. compete for national pride and the show's largest cash prize. The twist is national teams, so rival styles meet in the same environment.
How deep is the back catalog?
Discovery+ offers more than 70,000 episodes from TLC, HGTV, Food Network, ID, Animal Planet and Discovery Channel. NerdWallet counts library staples including 90 Day Fiancé, Deadliest Catch, Fixer Upper, House Hunters, MythBusters and Naked and Afraid in its discovery+ cost and library guide. That mix lets a viewer pair one October premiere with a finished arc in the same week.
BroadwayWorld reported Aug. 10, 2026 that discovery+ added always-on play-listed channels. They cover 90 Day Universe, Beat Bobby Flay, Deadliest Catch, Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, Ghost Adventures, Gold Rush and House Hunters, plus NASA+ programming. Use them to sample tone before committing to a season.
What should you check before you press play?
Current premieres still follow a linear-first pattern. Conskipper notes viewers need a discovery+ or Max subscription and must check episode availability. Plan around that gap: Confirm the episode label in the app before inviting friends, because next-day posting can leave the newest linear episode temporarily missing.
- Binge a library staple with full seasons posted
- Start Gold Rush, Ghost Adventures or Vegas Casino after its next-day drop
- Use play-listed channels for sampling between episodes
