The strongest choices on Crunchyroll right now are Solo Leveling, Witch Hat Atelier, The Apothecary Diaries Season 3 and Black Clover Season 2. They cover action, fantasy mystery and award-recognized craft for October viewing. Crunchyroll is a streaming service devoted to anime, Japan's serialized animation style. A simulcast is a subtitled release timed close to the Japanese broadcast, with dubbed versions added separately.

What premieres in October?
AniTrendz reports The Apothecary Diaries Season 3 premieres October 2 in the fall simulcast lineup. AniTrendz also lists Black Clover Season 2 for October 3 with English dubs for subscribers. That timing makes early October the decision point for returning viewers. Samlover lists the new Magic Knight Rayearth reboot as 24 episodes with worldwide simulcast and English dub.
The same Samlover report notes the original 49-episode 1994 series joined Netflix in January 2026 for catch-up. The pairing lets new viewers sample the reboot while tracing its source design separately. Geeks of Color cites summer action series Black Torch, which premiered July 4 with English dub, as the starter title while viewers wait for October. It suits viewers who want a shorter commitment before new seasons demand weekly attention.
Which audience favorites lead engagement?
CBR reports Solo Leveling became the first series to pass 1 million user ratings on May 27, 2026 in the ratings record report. CBR puts its average at 4.9/5 with about 95% five-star scores.
That volume signals broad consensus rather than a niche hit. FandomWire ranks One Piece at about 820K ratings, Jujutsu Kaisen at about 787K and Demon Slayer at about 747K just behind Solo Leveling in the user-ratings ranking. These totals reflect long catalog accumulation, not single-week popularity.
What merits attention for visual storytelling?
Animation Magazine reports Witch Hat Atelier won Best Anime Series at the 6th Astra TV Awards in the awards coverage. The same Animation Magazine report notes the April 2026 Crunchyroll premiere and win over Netflix nominees including Sakamoto Days.
For film readers, the award matters as peer recognition beyond audience ratings. It flags careful world-building and staging worth studying against bigger action franchises.
How should you check what you can actually watch?
