What makes this Cat different?
Bill Hader voices the titular Cat. Warner Bros. describes him in Official Trailer 3 as an agent of the Institute for the Institution of Imagination and Inspiration, LLC.
His brief is spreading joy in an irreverent way. ScreenRant reports his current assignment is cheering Gabby and Sebastian after a move. That job gives the visit a clear trigger. It also ties his antics to whether the children settle in.
Who are Gabby, Sebastian and Carmen?
Xochitl Gomez voices Gabby and Tiago Martinez voices her younger brother Sebastian. ScreenRant explains in its trailer breakdown that the Cat is assigned to cheer them after a move. The sibling pair centers the film on adjusting to a new home.
America Ferrera voices Carmen, the working mother of Gabby and Sebastian. ComicBasics reports the role expands the family story beyond the 1957 book. Her work life helps explain why the children feel adrift.
- Gabby — Xochitl Gomez: older sister adjusting after a move
- Sebastian — Tiago Martinez: younger brother
- Carmen — America Ferrera: working mother
Who are Waffles, Sherri and Mr. Hoogeboom?
Matt Berry voices the Fish, called Waffles, and Giancarlo Esposito voices Mr. Hoogeboom. Business Today notes in its trailer report that Waffles gains speech and mobility from the Cat yet dislikes him. The same report presents Hoogeboom as the exasperated boss who assigns the Cat a final test. Quinta Brunson voices Sherri, an HR director at the Cat's imagination company.
SuccessKnocks reports Sherri is newly invented and not a book character. Her role adds workplace rules to the Cat's freelance mischief. That trio splits the pressure on the Cat. Waffles resists him at home while Sherri enforces rules and Hoogeboom demands results. Children watching can track each adult as a different kind of limit.
Which cast names lack characters?
Paula Pell, Bowen Yang and Tituss Burgess are also in the cast. Business Today reports Warner Bros. has kept their specific roles undisclosed.
That limit prevents a complete character-by-character map. Focus previews on the confirmed voices for now. Treat undisclosed billing as ensemble support rather than a promised lead.

- Bowen Yang — role not disclosed by Warner Bros.
- Tituss Burgess — role not disclosed by Warner Bros.
