Need one great acting showcase?
Start with the 1992 James Foley drama Glengarry Glen Ross starring Pacino, Lemmon, Baldwin, and Harris. Paste Magazine spotlights it in its list of the 35 best movies on Hoopla as part of an indie, studio-film, and new-release mix.
The story follows desperate salesmen chasing leads and status. Dialogue drives the tension, not action. Watch for how pace, interruption, and silence reveal power.
Want creature horror with momentum?
Pair Bong Joon-ho's South Korean monster film The Host with the 2016 Korean zombie thriller Train to Busan. The first was the director's breakout calling card before Snowpiercer and Parasite. The second follows a father and daughter traveling from Seoul to Busan.
Both move fast without losing character focus. Family pressure shapes every chase and choice. Watch them together to compare monster design, crowd panic, and emotional payoff.
How should you choose this month?
Monthly borrow allowances and available catalog vary by library. Check your own library's Hoopla page for how many movies you can borrow each month.
A Good Movie to Watch's human-curated October 8, 2026 list names 15 best movies on Hoopla, keeping only titles rated at least 7/10 on IMDb and 70% on Rotten Tomatoes. Use that quality filter for a safer pick, then use Paste's broader 35-title mix when you want range. Unlike Kanopy, which is stream-only, Hoopla supports offline downloads and instant borrowing with no holds, making it the practical pick for travelers or viewers with spotty signal.
