Where to stream Wes Craven movies: the full list

The list follows the director credits in Rotten Tomatoes’ Wes Craven filmography: 20 theatrical features and 3 made-for-TV films (Stranger in Our House, Invitation to Hell and Night Visions). His segment of the 2006 anthology Paris, je t’aime is left out, as are TV episodes and the films he only wrote or produced. The hard-to-find ones

What his credits show

Craven started in features with The Last House on the Left, which Variety’s obituary notes he wrote, directed and edited in 1972; Rotten Tomatoes lists the same three jobs on The Hills Have Eyes five years later. He wrote and directed A Nightmare on Elm Street in 1984, and returned to that series a decade on with Wes Craven’s New Nightmare, which The Hollywood Reporter notes was nominated for best feature at the 1995 Spirit Awards.

He directed all four Scream films, and between the second and third he made Music of the Heart (1999), a drama that earned Meryl Streep an Oscar nomination for best actress. THR also credits him with giving Sharon Stone her first starring role, in Deadly Blessing. His last two films as director were My Soul to Take (2010) and Scream 4 (2011); Variety reported that he died of brain cancer at his Los Angeles home in August 2015, at 76.

For a first run through his work, try A Nightmare on Elm Street, Scream, The Serpent and the Rainbow, The People Under the Stairs and Red Eye. If you want to go deeper into the two franchises, see our guides to the Nightmare on Elm Street movies in order and the Scream movies in order, which also cover the sequels he did not direct.
