Where to stream George A. Romero movies: the full list

This list uses the director credits in Rotten Tomatoes’ George A. Romero filmography. Two Evil Eyes is the Edgar Allan Poe adaptation Variety’s obituary says he made in collaboration with Dario Argento; Rotten Tomatoes lists Romero among its directors, so it is counted. The 1990 remake of Night of the Living Dead is not on the list: Tom Savini directed it from Romero’s updated screenplay. JustWatch files Season of the Witch under its other title, Hungry Wives. Live-TV bundles and disc retailers are left out, and “Rent or buy” lists the main digital stores.

The hard-to-find ones

Martin (1978) has no US streaming, free or digital rental option listed on JustWatch as of October 11, 2026. Renting or buying is the only way to stream Dawn of the Dead and Creepshow, which had no subscription or free home on the check date.

The six Dead films

Romero made six zombie films: Night of the Living Dead (1968), Dawn of the Dead (1978), Day of the Dead (1985), Land of the Dead (2005), Diary of the Dead (2007) and Survival of the Dead (2009). The Hollywood Reporter’s obituary says that run earned him the nickname “Father of the Zombie Film”. On October 11, 2026, 4 of the six were free with ads somewhere: Night of the Living Dead, Day of the Dead, Diary of the Dead and Survival of the Dead.

Both obituaries say Night of the Living Dead was made in Pittsburgh for $114,000, and THR adds that it premiered there on Oct. 1, 1968. THR’s obituary also explains how it fell into the public domain: when the distributor changed the title from Night of the Flesh Eaters, the copyright notice came off. On October 11, 2026, it was free with ads on 14 US services.

Beyond the zombies

Between Night and Dawn he made There’s Always Vanilla, Season of the Witch, The Crazies and the vampire film Martin. Later came Knightriders, about jousters who fight on motorcycles; Creepshow, scripted by Stephen King; Monkey Shines; The Dark Half; and Bruiser. Rotten Tomatoes credits him as editor on several of them, including The Crazies, Dawn of the Dead, Knightriders and Creepshow. Romero died of lung cancer in July 2017, at 77, both obituaries report.

A good order for newcomers: Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Martin, Creepshow and Day of the Dead. If the zombie films are what you are after, our list of zombie movies to watch after 28 Years Later picks up from there, and our look at 1973’s horror releases covers the year The Crazies came out.
