How Rey Became the Last Jedi of the Skywalker Saga

Rey is one of the most important characters in the entire Star Wars saga especially when it comes to the end of the Skywalker story Her journey is not just about fighting villains or using the Force it is about finding her place in a galaxy that has been shaped by legends and learning what it truly means to be a Jedi

Rey first appeared in Star Wars The Force Awakens which was released in 2015 She was introduced as a young woman living on the desert planet Jakku all alone She spent her days scavenging for parts to trade and dreaming of a better life She had no family and no idea where she came from This mystery about her origins became a major part of her story throughout the sequel trilogy

At first many fans thought Rey might be related to some of the famous characters in Star Wars There were rumors that she could be the daughter of Luke Skywalker or even the granddaughter of Emperor Palpatine But as the story unfolded it was revealed that Rey was not actually connected to any of these legendary families Her parents were ordinary people who chose to protect her by leaving her behind on Jakku They died so that she would not be found by those who wanted to harm her This made Rey’s story even more powerful because it showed that anyone no matter their background could become a hero

Rey’s journey really began when she met Finn a former stormtrooper and BB8 a droid carrying a map to Luke Skywalker the last Jedi She helped them escape from the First Order and along the way she discovered that she had a strong connection to the Force This mysterious energy that binds the galaxy together allowed her to do things like move objects with her mind and sense danger before it happened

Rey’s first real teacher was Luke Skywalker himself but their relationship was complicated Luke had become a recluse after feeling responsible for the fall of his nephew Ben Solo who became Kylo Ren Rey wanted to learn from Luke but he was reluctant at first He did not believe he could train her and he was afraid of making the same mistakes again Still Rey was determined and eventually Luke agreed to teach her what he knew

After Luke’s death Rey continued her training with Leia Organa who was also a Force user and the sister of Luke Leia took on the role of Rey’s mentor and tried her best to guide her even though Leia’s knowledge of the Jedi ways was limited This bond between Rey and Leia became very important especially in the time between The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker During this period Rey and Leia worked together to repair the Skywalker lightsaber and search for ways to revive the Jedi Order They traveled to the planet Tython where they found an ancient Jedi temple filled with secrets and challenges

Their journey was not just about fixing a lightsaber or finding old Jedi knowledge It was about understanding what it means to carry on a legacy Rey learned that being a Jedi is not about having a famous last name or being related to powerful people It is about making the right choices standing up for what is right and never giving up even when things seem impossible

Rey faced many trials along the way She had to confront her own fears and doubts She struggled with the temptation of the dark side especially when she learned the truth about her parents and her connection to Palpatine But she always found a way to stay true to herself She refused to let her past define her and instead chose to create her own path

One of the most significant moments in Rey’s story came when she decided to take the name Skywalker This was not because she was actually related to Luke or Leia It was a symbolic choice to honor the legacy of the Jedi and to show that anyone can become a hero if they have the courage to try Rey believed that the Skywalker name stood for hope and resilience and she wanted to carry that spirit forward

Rey’s journey was not just about becoming a Jedi It was about finding her own identity in a galaxy full of legends She proved that you do not need to be born into greatness to achieve it You just need to believe in yourself and be willing to fight for what is right

As the Skywalker saga came to an end Rey became the last Jedi not because she was the only one left but because she was the one who carried the spirit of the Jedi into the future She faced impossible odds and overcame them through her strength her compassion and her determination

Rey’s story is a reminder that heroes can come from anywhere and that the Force is not just about power or skill It is about making choices that matter and standing up for those who cannot stand up for themselves Rey showed that being a Jedi is not about where you come from or who your parents were It is about what you do with the gifts you have and the legacy you choose to leave behind
