Avatar Fire and Ash Parental Rating Details

Avatar Fire and Ash received a PG-13 rating from the Motion Picture Association for intense sequences of violence and action, bloody images, some strong language, thematic elements and suggestive material. The film was released on December 18, 2025, and runs for 3 hours and 15 minutes.

The violence in the movie is rated as moderate overall. The film contains extended battle scenes where characters use guns, knives, bows and arrows, spears, and other weapons to shoot, slash and stab one another. There are many war scenes throughout the film, and characters get shot with arrows, sometimes struggling to remove them. These scenes are described as very hard to watch. The blood depicted is intense and very realistic in some scenes, though there is little or no blood in others. Characters are impaled by spears and shot in the throat or chest by arrows. Wounded fighters crash to the ground after being hit. The film also features massive bursts of fire that consume groups of enemies, explosions of machines and vehicles, and crushed Na’vi and bullet-riddled creatures. Additionally, there are suicide references and an attempted suicide scene in the movie.

The profanity level is moderate, with approximately 19 to 20 obscenities including multiple uses of strong language and one strong profanity. Sex and nudity content is mild, with no actual sexual content depicted. Alcohol, drugs, and smoking are also rated as mild in the film.

Frightening and intense scenes are rated as moderate. Characters experience a fantastical form of torture at the hands of their captor. A boy repeatedly experiences breathing difficulties throughout the film. These intense moments may be disturbing for younger viewers.

Different countries have assigned their own age ratings to the film. In Italy it received a T rating, Lithuania assigned N-13, Luxembourg and Malta gave it a 12 rating, the Netherlands rated it 12, New Zealand assigned an M rating, and Norway gave it a 15 cinema rating. The Philippines rated it PG.

Child safety organizations have provided additional guidance. Children and Media Australia states the film is unsuitable for children under 12, with parental guidance recommended up to age 14. The Raising Children Network in Australia similarly recommends the film is unsuitable for children under 12 and suggests parental guidance for children up to 14 years old.

The film contains thematic elements including pagan and mystical religious content, with references to an impersonal nature goddess called the All-Mother who is worshiped by the indigenous people and their ancestors. The movie also has a radical environmentalist attitude throughout its narrative. However, the film does include some morally uplifting content that extols family values and caring for orphans, along with some light Christian allusions.
