Avatar: Fire and Ash Ending Explained
The third Avatar movie wraps up its massive battle on Pandora with the Na’vi and their allies beating back the human invaders from the RDA, but it leaves plenty of loose ends for more fights ahead. Jake Sully and his family team up with the Metkayina reef people and the giant Tulkun sea creatures to stop the RDA from killing off the Tulkun and taking over the planet. The clash happens during a big Tulkun gathering under an eclipse, where the Na’vi forces finally push back hard. Lo’ak plays a key role here, working with his Tulkun friend Payakan to rally them into the fight for the first time.
Things get intense when the family faces attacks from the Mangkwan clan, also called the Ash people or Fire people. Led by the tough Varang played by Oona Chaplin, these Na’vi hate Eywa and side with humans, even using guns they got from the RDAhttps://www.esquire.com/uk/culture/film/a69825779/avatar-fire-and-ash-ending-explained/. They hurt the Sullys and split them up, nearly killing Spider. That’s when Kiri steps in big time. Using her special link to Eywa, she saves Spider by changing his body with a plant, letting him breathe Pandora’s air without a mask and grow a neural queue like the Na’vihttps://www.slashfilm.com/2053836/avatar-fire-and-ash-james-cameron-movie-ending-explained/. Humans see this as a game-changer, hoping to copy it so they can live on Pandora freely and colonize without maskshttps://www.esquire.com/uk/culture/film/a69825779/avatar-fire-and-ash-ending-explained/.
Ronal, the Metkayina leader played by Kate Winslet, gets badly hurt in the battle but gives birth to her baby and hands it to Neytiri before dyinghttps://www.slashfilm.com/2053836/avatar-fire-and-ash-james-cameron-movie-ending-explained/. As the Na’vi start losing ground to RDA weapons, Kiri ignores warnings and links up with Eywa again, with help from Tuk and Spider. This calls in Pandora’s plants and animals to swarm the enemy and flip the battlehttps://www.slashfilm.com/2053836/avatar-fire-and-ash-james-cameron-movie-ending-explained/.
At the same time, Jake, Spider, and Colonel Quaritch have their final showdown. Quaritch won’t back down or switch sides, even when it’s a stalemate. He chooses to jump off a magnetic cliff into the void rather than give uphttps://www.slashfilm.com/2053836/avatar-fire-and-ash-james-cameron-movie-ending-explained/https://movieweb.com/avatar-fire-and-ash-ending-explained/. Kiri also fights Varang using a mind-control trick the Ash leader taught, and Varang flees to fight another dayhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Yp6VBlDGZk. The RDA gets crushed, and hints show Quaritch survives for Avatar 4, maybe saved by Varang or his own creaturehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Yp6VBlDGZk.
In the end, everyone celebrates. Spider gets accepted as one of the Na’vi people, fully part of the family now. They share a spirit world moment with lost loved ones like Neteyam and Grace Augustinehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q1R77mUnI_4. Jake tells Lo’ak he trusts him, closing some grief from Neteyam’s death in the last moviehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q1R77mUnI_4.
