Avatar 3 Hits Big Overseas as Global Buzz Grows
Avatar 3, the latest from director James Cameron, is pulling in strong numbers at international box offices just days after its wide release. Fans across Asia, Europe, and Latin America have flocked to theaters, pushing the film’s overseas earnings past key milestones early on.
In China, the movie topped charts with over $150 million in its first week, beating out local hits and drawing huge crowds in cities like Beijing and Shanghai. Box Office Mojo reports show it grabbed 60% of the market share there, thanks to stunning 3D visuals that play well on big screens.
Europe is another hotspot. France and Germany each added more than $40 million, while the UK crossed $30 million. Data from The Numbers highlights how midnight screenings sold out fast, with families and sci-fi lovers filling seats.
Over in India, Avatar 3 raked in $25 million quickly, boosted by dubbed versions in Hindi and Tamil. South Korea and Japan also contributed solid figures, at $28 million and $22 million respectively, per early tallies from Deadline Hollywood.
Latin America chipped in with Brazil leading at $18 million, followed by Mexico. These markets love the Pandora world-building, and premium formats like IMAX helped lift totals.
As of today, international receipts stand at around $450 million, setting up a massive global run. Tracking sites like Screen Daily predict even bigger weekends ahead with holiday crowds.
