Almost everyone has one: a film half-watched at the wrong age that lodged permanently. They are unusually findable, because the frightening moments in children’s films are well documented and the era narrows fast.
Why these are easier to find than you think
A frightening scene in an otherwise gentle film is memorable to everyone who saw it, not just you. That shared memory is what makes it searchable.
Describe the feeling and the object
Search the concrete thing — the tunnel, the transformation, the boat, the mask — alongside the decade. Avoid describing the plot; you probably misremember it.
Trust your age, not your summary
Children compress and rearrange stories. The details most likely to be accurate are sensory: a colour, a sound, a single image. The plot you have reconstructed since is the least reliable part.
